Some test results can take longer than others to come back to us.
For example, most blood test results will be back within 24-48 hours whereas urine sample results could take up to 5 days, and stool sample results could take up to 10 days.
X-rays, CT, MRI, or Ultrasound scans can all vary depending on demand and where you are having the scan.
Biopsy results can take around 10-14 days to be returned.
FIT (Faecal Immunochemical Test) results can take 7 working days to be returned to the GP after you have sent the pack off in the post.
If you attend the surgery for a blood test, your results will usually be returned to us within 24-48 hours. Once received, the GPs need to review and comment on each test result.
If you attend the surgery for a test that was requested by hospital doctor, rather than one of our GPs at the surgery, your result will be sent to the hospital doctor and not the surgery.
