Repeat Prescriptions

Medicines which have been authorised by a GP to be on ‘repeat prescription’ can be requested, when needed, via an Online Services account (for example, via the NHS App).

This is our preferred method for repeat prescription requesting as your online services account links directly to your medical record. This means that you can see each of your authorised repeat items and once requested, they are received directly into our system.

If you do not have access to an online services account, please visit our ‘Online Services’ page for more information on setting this up.

If you are unable to use an Online Services account, you can drop your repeat prescription slip back into us at the surgery. If you do not have your repeat slip, please contact reception.

If you are a dispensing patient and collect your prescriptions from our Dispensary, please allow 3 to 4 full working days before collecting. See below for more information.

Patients that collect prescriptions from a Community Pharmacy, please allow 1 working day for us to receive and send the request to your chosen (nominated) pharmacy. Your nominated pharmacy will then have their own timescales for making up your prescription.

Dispensing

We have a Dispensary at the practice. This is not the same as a Community Pharmacy and allows us to dispense medicines to those patients that live more than one mile from a Pharmacy/Chemist.

If you are a dispensing patient at the practice, we can offer to automatically issue your repeat medication again the following month without you needing to request it. Please mention this to our staff when collecting, if we do not already do this for you.

Medication Reviews

Patients on repeat medication will be asked to see either a doctor or practice nurse at least once a year to review these regular medications.

Please allow 3 to 4 full working days between requesting and collecting your medication.

For all dispensing patients (posted 29/06/2023)
Due to national shortages of various medicines and some staff sickness, we are needing to temporarily increase the turnaround time for repeat prescription requests.
We are sorry that we are not currently able to meet our own expectations of processing these requests in the usual 48 working hours, but increasing this turnaround time will ensure we can continue to dispense safely to our patients.
Please bear this in mind when requesting or collecting your medication from the dispensary and please now allow 3 or 4 working days.
Thank you.

If for some reason you need medication urgently, and it is outside of our dispensary opening hours, please contact 111 for assistance. Alternatively, you may contact one of the local pharmacies who may be able to help.
